January Card Club : coming up!!!!

Happy New Year!!  I have a previous commitment with my family on the second weekend of January so we will have our gathering on the 18th of January, 1:00, at my house.  The worktable has been cleared and cleaned of all things "Christmas" and I thought it would be a good time to get some general cards made to start off the year.  The card kit that I will prepare for you will make 15 cards, and you will receive a "C" size stamp set, along with embellishments.  I will provide the ink, however, since you are receiving the stamp set, you may want to order ($5.95 each) one or some of the inks.
Anyway, the cost is $25.00 which includes tax and shipping, the stamp set and 15 cards and envelopes, with embellishments.
I will need to order by January 4 and have openings for 6 friends, so if you would like to attend, please let me know asap and either send a check or bring one by.
Suggested inks for this project are: Black and or Slate, Flaxen, Juniper, Hollyhock, Glacier (if you want to add ink to your kit order, let me know, and if you choose to order Black, specify regular or Archival)
I've attached a photo of the stamp set and I think you'll see how versatile it is!

"Autumn - Fall- Family- Blessed"

This was so fun to make, as all the parts came together like a sweet puzzle.
I used one stamp, stamped twice, once with Chocolate ink, then with Autumn Terracotta.  Then I used the Chocolate print for the base, tore it around the edges, and inked them for a little distressed look.  I continued the distressing by tearing the large words out of the Terracotta print, inking the edges, then popped them up on top of the Chocolate words. I finished it off with CTMH twine and charm.

New Envelope Mini-album - Take a Hike!

The covers are made of chipboard, covered with a base color (black) then decorative cardstock.  The patterned cardstock is from one pack so it was easier to match and have a good flow through the book.  I love the cover because the "go nuts for nature" is on a spring so it wiggles to make it a little more nuts!!
The first flap has two mini-tag sections.

I didn't want to cover the fish lures, but added interest with the half-page pocket pages on the right.  I also tried my hand at stenciling the feather on the bottom page.
The mini on the right has 4 pages and there are pockets on each page for tags, notes, photos, etc.
Each page has large photo mats in the side pockets.
The lantern and cammo flaps have magnetic closures so they don't open freely, I LOVE using magnetic closures!!
This page was stenciled with bare trees and on the left side, an accordion style fold-out is attached to the page.
This is a fun and easy mini - one of my favorites to make!

Hi!!  I know this can be a really crazy time- trying to squeeze in a few more summer fun things and get ready to start the school year at the same time...SO!! this would be a great time to take a break from it all and get creative for a couple hours!  AND have a little while to chat and laugh with friends !
You are invited to my house for the August gathering for Club Create!  We'll get started at 1:00,  making cards of the style you see in the attached photos, called "layered stamping".  The possibilities are endless!!! I'll provide the papers, stamps and inks. You will need to bring adhesive(tape runner is best ).  I would appreciate $5 from each attendee to help cover costs of the materials, which can be paid when you get here.  Thanks!
You will also have a chance to see the new "Annual Inspirations" idea book.  There are all new paper packs, some new embellishments, some new colors and more new gorgeous stamps sets!
So you can shop too!! what more could a person want - laughing, chatting, eating, creating and shopping!!all in a couple hours.  Be sure to let me know if you can come over so I can plan accordingly!!
Take good care- Ruth

Coffee Cup Sleeves!

Here's a mini-album I made using the sleeves from "to go" coffee cups - I love to up-cycle things and this was fun and easy to do.  I pressed them flat, glued the bottom edge shut and tucked a tag into each one.  The best way I found to "bind them" was with eyelets and ribbon, since they didn't take away tag space:-)
Next time you toss a sleeve away...don't!!

Stickles Storage

This is the top tray of a craft/tool box that used to have all my Stickles and alcohol inks tossed into it.  Frustration plus!! This is my new solution - YAY!! It's made of 3/4" PVC coupling. They came in packages of 10 for about $2.50 at Lowes.  I glued them in sections of 8 or 10 so I could move/manage them easier and it works like a charm!! I did put a piece of chipboard in the bottom of the tray, just in case anything leaked or dripped :-)

New Brads and ribbons

When I was younger, I bought new earrings for a cheap thrill :-). Now, it's these cute brads, eyelets and ribbons!! They are so stinkin' cute, many match my Close To My Heart paper sets and they are pretty inexpensive!! And it only took 2 days for free delivery!
This time I NEEDED the little yellow bumblebees.  This is what I got:
Sometimes, I clip the pokey part off the back of the brads and just adhere them with adhesive - works just fine!

Last Week's Card Club

Here is another of the "pop-up" cards like the one I made for my sister, but this one uses flowers and butterflies by Sizzix die cuts and matching stamps.  The box and sentiments are from Close To My Heart OF COURSE!! Love it! Everyone had fun finding out how much easier this was to make, than it looks to be! ( I'm having a heck-of-a time getting the directions to post well, so if you are interested in the directions, please message me here):-/

New "pop-up" card

My sister is FINALLY turning 60! I've always been older but now we are finally the same age!! (right??!!)  I want to surprise her with this one in the mail so the embellishments are few and flat.  This is a box that folds flat, side-to-side. The balloon flaps hanging down, will fold up to mail, then the surprise is when you open the card to be a box, the flaps fall and the insides are viewable!
I LOVE this paper set - It's the Balloon set from the new idea book from Close to My Heart. Check it out at!

Shabby chic flowers

Well there is a little hold on my redecorating process.  So, I took a bit of time to make these flowers for my lampshades and, thanks to YouTube tutorials, I think they turned out ok.  It makes me smile to look at each one and think of where the fabric came from - some curtains, clothes and remnants...Now I have ANOTHER thing to keep my eyes open for - lace, etc. to make more! - I'm going to make some in colors for my grand-daughters' rooms...
